THR exclusively reported earlier this year that John was in talks to join the still Untitled Cameron Crowe/Hawaii Project, previously known as “Deep Diki”. He officially signed on and he was already seen in Hawaii in November and December to film his scenes.
John Krasinski is in talks to join Cameron Crowe’s untitled romantic comedy.
The Office actor will join a star-heavy cast that includes Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel, Alec Baldwin and Bill Murray.
The currently untitled film, set up at Sony, follows a defense contractor (Cooper) who falls for an Air Force pilot (Stone) after he’s assigned to oversee the launch of a weapons satellite from Hawaii.
Krasinski will play a military man married to McAdams, who is playing Cooper’s ex-girlfriend.
Scott Rudin is producing the pic along with Crowe, who also wrote the script.
Krasinski, who for nine seasons was one of the stars of NBC’s The Office and whose past film credits include Leatherheads and Big Miracle, most recently co-wrote and starred in 2012’s Promised Land. He also voiced a character in Monsters University. He’s repped by WME and Schreck Rose.
The movie wrapped filming earlier this week in Hawaii. It has been reported that they are aiming for a 2014 release. The movie is written and directed by Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous, Jerry Maguire).
