THR is reporting that Sony has pushed back the release of the still Untitled Cameron Crowe/Hawaii Project. The movie was set to be released on Christmas day in the US but the release is now pushed back to May 29, 2015.

Sony has pushed back Cameron Crowe’s untitled romantic comedy from December 25, 2014 to May 29, 2015.

The Hawaii-set film features an all-star cast including Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams. It follows a military contractor (Cooper) who returns to the site of his greatest career triumphs – the U.S. Space program in Honolulu, Hawaii – and reconnects with a long-ago love (McAdams) while unexpectedly falling for the hard-charging Air Force watchdog (Stone). Bill Murray also stars as an enigmatic billionaire with suspicious intentions.

The cast is rounded out by John Krasinski, Danny McBride and Alec Baldwin.

Crowe wrote and directed the project, and produced it by Scott Rudin. Ilona Herzberg, Eli Bush and Ben Waisbren executive produced.

The new date puts the film up against horror sequel Insidious Chapter 3 and Paramount’s Monster Trucks.

The Wrap is reporting the following statement of Jeff Blake, chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution for Sony Pictures:

“Once we saw the film, we knew that it would make a perfect summer release. The movie is Cameron at his best,” said Jeff Blake, chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution for Sony Pictures.

Writer/Director Cameron Crowe shared a new on set photo of his upcoming still untitled movie on his official website. John co-stars as Woody alongside Rachel McAdams, Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone. The movie wrapped up filming in Hawaii last year and is expected to be released sometime this year.

Plot: “Untitled Hawaii” centers on a celebrated military contractor named Gilchrest who returns to the site of his greatest career triumphs in Hawaii, and is overseeing a weapons satellite launch. He re-connects with a long lost love, while unexpectedly falls in love with a hard-charging Air Force pilot – and watchdog assigned to him – named Major Ng. Gilchrest and Ng team up to scuttle the launch of the satellite, while dealing with mystical island forces.

THR exclusively reported earlier this year that John was in talks to join the still Untitled Cameron Crowe/Hawaii Project, previously known as “Deep Diki”. He officially signed on and he was already seen in Hawaii in November and December to film his scenes.

John Krasinski is in talks to join Cameron Crowe’s untitled romantic comedy.

The Office actor will join a star-heavy cast that includes Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel, Alec Baldwin and Bill Murray.

The currently untitled film, set up at Sony, follows a defense contractor (Cooper) who falls for an Air Force pilot (Stone) after he’s assigned to oversee the launch of a weapons satellite from Hawaii.

Krasinski will play a military man married to McAdams, who is playing Cooper’s ex-girlfriend.

Scott Rudin is producing the pic along with Crowe, who also wrote the script.

Krasinski, who for nine seasons was one of the stars of NBC’s The Office and whose past film credits include Leatherheads and Big Miracle, most recently co-wrote and starred in 2012’s Promised Land. He also voiced a character in Monsters University. He’s repped by WME and Schreck Rose.

The movie wrapped filming earlier this week in Hawaii. It has been reported that they are aiming for a 2014 release. The movie is written and directed by Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous, Jerry Maguire).
