Deadline is reporting that Sony Pictures Classics acquired “The Hollars“, no release date has been announced.
John Krasinski’s ‘The Hollars’ has sold in a splashy deal to Sony Pictures Classics, the latest deal in what is turning out to be a prolific Sundance Film Festival. Krasinski, who made his directorial debut with Brief Interviews With Hideous Men, has made a deal with SPC to acquire all rights in the US and Asia to the pic Krasinski directed from a script by Jim Strouse (People Places Things). The pic premieres tonight at Sundance. WME Global brokered it.
Produced by Krasinski, Tom Rice, Allyson Seeger and Ben Nearn and executive produced by Michael London, Janice Williams, Mike Sablone and Strouse, The Hollars is made up of an all-star cast which includes Krasinski, Margo Martindale, Richard Jenkins, Sharlto Copley, Anna Kendrick, Charlie Day, Josh Groban, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Randall Park. Krasinski, who has transitioned from The Office to a viable feature leading man career with recent turns that have included 13 Hours and Aloha, has become a filmmaker to watch, and there has been heightened buzz on this film.
